Surgical Unit

The surgical unit consists of 12 operating theatres, one of which is for the exclusive use for day case surgery and another solely for obstetric purposes. Each theatre room has fully integrated videocameras for filming surgical procedures which can then be incorporated into the patient’s electronic medical history. They can further be used for real time video conferencing for courses and symposiums with other medical institutions that are equipped with the same technology.

Each theatre has its own 42” technical screen with full diagnostic imaging resolution to enable the surgeon to consult the patients medical history and review any relevant previous tests and scans that may be of interest whilst carrying out an operation. All the technology is available to ensure greater precision, reliability and security when carrying out a surgical procedure.

The unit comprises of a double flow system of corridors ensuring entry through a clean area and exiting through an independent one, thus preventing any cross-contamination. The post-operative corridor leads to the recovery unit which comprises of 8 different posts. Any procedures performed in this unit are carried out in accordance with the manual for the  management of sterilization and disinfection for sanitary materials published by the ministry of health, thus ensuring the safe use and disposal of surgical equipment.
